Happy Friday, Friends. I hope this weekend brings you peace and relaxation. Today I’m going to share a few things that help me “get ready” for the weekend. I know a lot of people are super busy this time of year, but once you have a routine that works for you you’ll be surprised at how easy it is! You can create a checklist for yourself on your phone (Google notes app is great!) Or use good old fashioned pen and paper. Whatever makes your heart happy. ❤️

What is a Friday Wind-Down? For the purposes of this article, it’s a handy little term that I used to name my Friday evening routine. I’ll be posting some everyday routines soon, but this came to mind to post right after I finished it a few moments ago. I want to share this with you, with the hope that you will make it yours. One thing that I’ve learned over the years is what works for one, won’t work for everyone. Feel free to send me suggestions and advice, as this is a sharing community and I’m no expert (yet). Like I mentioned before, you can start by making a list. This should include things that you *ideally* would love to have done before “starting your weekend.” I find that breaking up my week makes things a little bit more bearable, and sometimes even more exciting! But, I’m the type of person who gets giddy over a clean space, so take that with a grain or two of salt.

Once you have your list, it should probably look something like this:

Start laundry
Cook dinner
Do dishes
Clean the bathrooms
(Insert whatever else you’d like to have done here, including reading with your kids or giving your dog dinner!)

I’d like to encourage you to keep the list at 4 or 5 tasks. Mind you, this isn’t a deep clean. These are simply small things that will make us and our families more comfortable for the weekend, whether you’re home or not. After you master this list, and get accustomed to doing this every Friday, you can add more things if you’d like. Just don’t forget to keep it simple.

The point of this Wind-Down is to refocus your mind and body from work or school. It makes the transition of being home much easier, and a clear space makes for a clearer head. This can also be used as “me time” with music, podcasts, or a movie to make it more fun. You deserve a comfortable, clean space to spend your time in. Once you convince yourself of this, you’ll be much more prone to quickly wiping things down before settling in with a movie.

Thank you for reading!!! During the month of December I will be running a 25 Days Of Joy event on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/weeklywellnessblog)
